Q) How did you get involved in the film Saving My Baby?
A) I just completed filming the 2nd season of “SIX” for the History channel. I was sixteen weeks pregnant and wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to still work until my manager called me and asked if I was interested in a feature playing a pregnant woman. I really loved the script and signed on immediately after.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the film?
A) Director Michael Feifer, for one thing. He is a Lifetime movie master. So, I knew I was in good hands with him from the point of view of vision and story-telling, but also that he had worked with a lot of pregnant actresses; and I felt comfortable that he’d take care of me and make me look the best I could. We shot up until I was twenty-six weeks pregnant.
Q) How was your character Sarah originally described to you?
A) She was a strong and capable woman that would do anything for the love of her child. I also liked that no man was going to save her. She was the heroine of her own story.
Q) Where did you shoot the movie and what was the timeline like?
A) We filmed most of the movie in LA, Anaheim and a couple days in Las Vegas. The Vegas portion happened at the end of filming and I was very big at the point. All together we shot the film in eighteen days I think.
Q) Talk about working with iconic actress Kathleen Quinlan.
A) She’s fearless and a wonderful actress. She showed up with a great attitude and was so giving as a scene partner. Our characters were very combative in the film and it was fun playing off her.
Q) What advice did writer/director Michael Feifer offer during filming that you took to heart?
A) When I think of working with Michael, he really let me play and bring my vision to life. He was open to my thoughts and what was important to the character. His advice was always to for it and he would pull me back if needed.
Q) As a mother yourself, what were some of the most difficult scenes to film?
A) One of the most difficult scenes was the car crash. I was twenty-two weeks pregnant then and had to move my body to make the crash realistic without hurting myself or my boy, which for me is hard because I always really go for it and this time I could not do what I normally do. It became very technical even though I was emotionally invested in the moments.
Q) What do you think it is about the movie that will make it a fast Lifetime favorite?
A) First of all, it’s beautifully shot. I mean, the end scene is stunning. And I also think Michael directed it so it’s a new look at the classic Lifetime movie. Very proud of this movie.
Q) This movie is described as a thriller. In general, what’s your favorite genre to act in?
A) I really love all genes. I know that is cheesy, but I have done so many in my career and enjoy them all.
Q) Do you have any other projects coming up?
A) I just wrapped a movie called Dead Water with Casper Van Dien, Judd Nelson and Griff Furst filming on a luxury yacht in St Croix. So, that was a nice work vacation after having a baby only three months before. I’m currently pitching a TV series called “Into Me You See” I created with Jana Kramer and my husband and producing partner Mark Gantt is also executive producing with us. We’ve got a fantastic production company and writer attached and we’re looking to go out with it in the new year. Much more to come in the future!
