Lilly’s (Vedette Lim) husband Jeremy (Mitchell Fink) is brutally murdered one morning while he’s out jogging, and his genitalia is removed – which shocks Lilly more than just a bit, pretty much almost breaks her. Of course, the police picks up investigations immediately, but can’t really come up with much, except that his murder might be linked to the killing of a couple of swingers a couple of years back, and he may just have been the victim of a serial killer. But then Lilly starts getting weird phonecall from Jeremy’s phone, which drive her crazy enough to hire paranormal investigator Dennis (Andrew W. Walker) – and they also lead her to a swinger club where Jeremy had been a member behind her back, which is led by spiritual guide Rudger (Mark Gantt) and Angel (Jennimay Walker) – who just happens to be Jeremy’s ex-wife. Now knowing he had led this life behind her back is definitely another blow to Lilly … but it also makes her curious, and she eventually joins the club. Thing is, the killer apparently had a thing for swingers …
A very nice blend of serial killer whodunnit and paranormal investigation tale, Deadly Signal manages to surprise the audience throughout, taking the story into many an unexpected direction. This is also helped by a very moody directorial effort that handles both its shocks and its raunchier scenes with enough subtlety to give the story air to breathe. And of course, a very solid ensemble cast also helps to bring this movie to life.
Well worth a watch!
